Bioskoop, founded in March 2015 with a small team, began by covering the Afrikaans film industry before expanding to include all South African films. In 2019, it became a registered non-profit and is now working towards public benefit organisation status, enabling tax-deductible donations. The organisation aims to create a fund to support drama and filmmaking students in South Africa, fostering a collaborative filmmaking community that uplifts rather than competes destructively. Through education and inclusivity, Bioskoop seeks to showcase South Africa’s talent and beauty to the world, leaving future generations a legacy of opportunity and hope.
